My Plastic Welding Experience - Chip Klinck, NAIAD of New Hampshire Inc.
In 1964, at the age of twenty-four, I started in the plastics Industry as a distributor for Kamweld and Laramy Products. Three years later (1967) and ironically, at the same time as the now famous “plastics scene” in the movie, “The Graduate”, I founded National Plastifab Inc., which functioned as a stocking distributor of plastic sheet, rod, tube, pipe, valves, and fittings.
As the “new guys on the block,” we helped to pioneer the usage of acid-resistant plastic pipes in industrial applications. At that time, we were Sloane’s largest East Coast distributor, of Fuseal pipes and fittings.
In the 70’s, National Plastifab expanded its operation with the acquisition of the distribution line of Laramy Products, previously owned by Pierre Pottier. Our company soon became “the go to company” for fabricator’s plastic sheet, welding rod and welding gun needs. We soon discovered that we were deemed to be experts in the field of the innovative application of stress relieved sheets, nitrogen gas and good plastic welding equipment. It was a natural progression for us to enter the plastic fabricator’s field too.
With an eye for detail and an ability to trouble shoot and to follow complicated designs, to pass the high-quality control standards of Raytheon of Waltham Massachusetts, soon became one of our largest, repeat customers. One of the many products which we developed for them were “tunnels,” which were used in conjunction with their industrial microwave sales. At that time, we also fabricated products for NASA.
By 1978, we had grown to three locations in New England, and a staff of thirty-two. By 1979, competition had become fierce, and I had become tired, so I decided to dissolve the company, and to establish a new career as a manufacturer’s representative, and a new company, Naiad Associates.
In 1987, I represented the additional lines of Drader for extruders and Technodue for butt welders and their line of extruders. When the Malcom Company determined that I was cutting into their sales they offered me the Leister line of products on straight commission basis.
In 2002, I partnered with Larry Rowold selling BAK and Ingenia products i.e., butt welders. In addition to plastic welding equipment, I have also sold plastic welding school classes for him. To date, the sale of these classes has proven to be a fantastic opportunity for future sales and further networking.
In retrospect, I have a solid relationship with most key fabricators in both the New England
and Canadian (Quebec) territories. Unlike some distributors, I have a hands-on knowledge of not only the equipment, (including extensive experience demonstrating the equipment in the field), but also the demands and concerns presented on the fabrication side of the business.
Customers have learned to depend on me for honest advice on equipment and the processes needed to meet their fabrication needs. I have 59 years’ experience in the plastic industry, so rest assured, I know I can assist you with any application you are working on.
I also represent RCM Modular Homes and Westchester Modular Homes Corporation.

Chip Klinck, Owner Naiad of New Hampshire Inc.
My working relationship with Chip Klinck of Naiad of New Hampshire has spanned over 20 years. He supplied our Company with flat plastic sheets.
We began our journey in plastic welding by using a handheld extrusion gun for a specific product we created for our local highway department.
Chip sourced a company that created a dye that would turn our flat plastic sheets into 2’ diameter tubes that were 10’ in length with a flange butt welded on top of a 2’ x 4’ sheet. This process saved us an immense amount of time compared to us using a handheld extruder for the same process.
Chip is a great supplier who is extremely knowledgeable within the plastics industry, he knows exactly where to source the correct process or material for your individual applications.
